Can You Get Surround Sound with a 3.5mm Audio Cable?

Yes, you can get surround sound with a 3.5mm audio cable, but not true surround sound.

A 3.5 mm cable doesn’t output multi channel sound It outputs only stereo sound with two channels – Left and Right.

However, if your 5.1 surround sound system come with Pro Logic, then the 2-channel audio input from your 3.5mm cable is capable of multi-channel surround sound.

The thing is you get only emulated 5.1 surround sound and not true 5.1 surround sound.

You may want to use a 5.1 Dolby Digital Decoder device to boost sound quality though.
