You may have recorded a video on iPhone in the MOV format and now want to convert it to MP4.

Or you may have used an older Android phone to record video in the 3GPP or MPEG-TS format.

You want to now save your phone video as an MP4.

MP4 is a universal video file format supported by almost all multimedia playback devices.

You can play MP4 over your computer, mobile devices, HDTV, TV boxes, game consoles, and even DVD players.

Browsers like Safari and Chrome support the playback of MP4 files, without the need to install additional software.

iPhone Video

iPhone doesn’t record video in MP4 by default. It records in the MOV format.

It uses the HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Codec) to encode and save recordings in the .mov extension.

If you have MOV videos on your iPhone, you can easily save your phone videos to MP4 by transferring them to your computer (Mac or PC).

You can do it through your iCloud Drive or via AirDrop.

Once transferred to your computer, you can use a video converter to convert MOV files to MP4, as explained below.

However, the best way is to use a USB cable to connect your iPhone to your computer.

Connecting your iPhone to your Windows computer would require you to install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
