This post shows you how to fix the WhatsApp video with no sound problem.
What should you do if you try to play a WhatsApp video and get no sound?
Check Device Volume
The first thing you would want to do is check your phone volume. Maybe you accidentally turned it down.
So, use the volume button on your phone to raise the audio level.
If this simple fix doesn’t work, then you can try the following fixes.
Restart WhatsApp
Restarting WhatsApp will refresh the app. It may fix any hidden issues, including the WhatsApp video no sound problem.
Check Other WhatsApp Videos
Just to be sure, check other WhatsApp videos.
Go to your Gallery App and look for the WhatsApp Video folder.
Do you remember playing any video there with sound? If so, replay the video. See if you get audio.
Install Updated WhatsApp Version
Are you using the latest Whatsapp version? If you’ve not used the messaging app for a while, then you should check whether you have the latest version installed.
Go to Google Play Store and search for WhatsApp.
If you see the Open button, you have an updated version.
Otherwise, you may proceed to update the app.
Is it a GIF File?
Sometimes, what you’re playing may look like a video. However, it’s not a video file. Instead, it could be a GIF file.
A GIF file plays very much like a video file. You would have seen GIF files being shared on social media platforms like Twitter. These files play in a loop.
GIF files don’t support audio. So, if you can confirm that the ‘video’ is a GIF file, don’t expect to audio to play.
Audio Muted By Sender
Sometimes, the original video file comes with audio. However, the sender has the option to mute the audio.
He can tap on the speaker icon to disable it before hitting the send button.
When you receive the video, WhatsApp will not show that the audio has been disabled.
So, how do you find out? Go to the Gallery folder on your phone or tablet. Then select the WhatsApp Video folder. Tap on the video and try playing it. You’ll know whether the video came with audio muted.
Disable Do Not Disturb Mode
Sometimes you may need to mute WhatsApp notifications. You can do this by turning on the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode.
You may have forgotten to turn off the DND mode or had accidentally turned it on.
So, how do you turn off the Do Not Disturb mode?
On your phone, go to Settings.
From there, choose Sounds and Vibrations.
Check whether the Do Not Disturb mode is switched on. If it is, turned it off.
After that try playing the WhatsApp video to see if audio comes on.
Turn Off Bluetooth Audio
Did you enable Bluetooth audio? Have you connected your phone audio to a pair of Bluetooth speakers or earbuds?
If so, you would need to disable the Bluetooth audio connection. Otherwise, you would have to listen to your Whatsapp Video through your Bluetooth device.
You have learned ways to fix the WhatsApp video with no sound problem. Go ahead and give the steps a try.
