There are the usual GIFs involving celebrities that are often shared in the viryail space. These GIFs are a common sight to most people.

So, if you want to stand out with a unique GIF, you’ve got to make your own one.

Don’t already have videos to make GIFs from? Worry not. You can make a GIF from a Youtube video.

But how do you make a GIF from a YouTube video?

The best way to do it is to grab a portion of a YouTube video and make a GIF from it.

No, you don’t have to download the YouTube video, cut the portion you want and then convert it to a GIF.

You also don’t have to install software to get the job done.

Here are the steps on how to make a GIF from a YouTube video for free, right from your Internet browser.

Make a GIF from a YouTube Video

First of all you want to get ready your YouTube video. You would need the YouTube link.

Before you upload your YT video to the site, make sure you determine the portion you want to convert to GIF.

So, I’ve my You Tube video here of funny baby faces and I want a particular portion

So, I mark my start time and note how many seconds of the video I want to create the desired effect.

Click the video below to watch the portion so that you’ll know which portion will be converted to GIF.

Visit makeagif.com

As the next step, you want to go to the makeagif.com website.

Once there, you select YouTube to GIF option.

Next, you would want to paste the URL of your selected YouTube video.

Once you’ve entered the video URL, you’ll be taken to the video preview page where you can select the portion of the video you want turned into GIF.

Firstly, you want to select the GIF quality. You can set it at low or medium. You would need a premium account if you select high or HD.

Then enter you start time and end time in the fields shown below. Be reminded that you can only make clips up to 10 seconds. Beyond that, you would need to sign up for an account and log in.

So, I have selected five seconds. Once you’ve selected the time you can see a preview of the selected portion for you to check whether that’s the portion you want.

You’ll have to set your category first before you to procced to publish your GIF. This is strange but you’ve to do it before you can move ahead.

Then set your GIF clip speed and then hit the Continue to Publishing button. Choose 1x for normal speed.

The GIF will be created.

A preview of the GIF will play and you have the option to download.

This is the downloaded version of the GIF clip.

Notice that it comes with makeagif watermark. Keep the clip if it’s okay with you.

But if you don’t fancy folks knowing where you made the GIF, you can remove the watermark easily.

Head to site a called ezgif.com. It’s an Online GIF maker and image editor site. Once there we’ll select Crop from the menu. Yes, we want to crop the watermark.

Next you’ll be promptedto upload your GIF file.

You can then adjust the handles to exclude the watermark.

You can leave the other settings at default and hit Crop. Within seconds you’ll see a preview of the cropped image.

You can the proceed to right click on the image and download it.

The final GIF will look like this without the watermark.
