Mediacoder Tutorial : Convert Any Video or Audio Format for Free

Getting Started
You load your media file by pressing the Add button.
After loading you could see the media file details at the bottom half of the window.

You could preview your input file using the Play button. However, if you blow it up full screen by pressing the maximize button, the mouse cursor disappears and you would have to use the ESC key to return to the program. By then the video window disappears altogether and you would have to restart the whole clip. If you want to view your video in a larger window drag at the handles at the four edges of the window.

And it's a whooping 52 file formats, nearly every fopular format you could imagine even VCD dat track.
Output Formats
In the output mode, you can select your Video and Audio options among others.

You can see that there's a slider to adjust the bitrate to your desired level. You could also choose Quality-based, two-pass or three-pass.
The output formats are limited though, not as extensive as the input formats:

You can start transcoding by using the Start button or alternatively the Transcode Menu. One interesting option here is Transcode Audio only expecially useful if you're if you're ripping a audio from a VCD or DVD.

At the bottom half of the program window there's a tab for Guides and Tutorials. You can click on it to reveal links that could help you better use Mediacoder.
Mediacoder may be a little elaborate in its features, but it may just be the tool yiou need to get the desired results for your video needs.
