Magix Video Editing Course Start Editing The first step to editing is locating your footage in your hard drive. Make sure you're in the Video Editor Mode.
Choose Recordings and you'll see your captured footage. Remember the file name assigned when you chose the directory to store your footage.
At this stage it's recommended that you work in the storyboard mode.
Once you have located your clip, you could drag it into the editing panel or double-click on it. You can then drag the red slider to preview the clip.
Drag the next clip and arrange it beside the first clip. Save Your Project As soon as you put the first clip on the on the storyboard panel, it's advisable to save it as a project. Go to file and choose Save or press CTRL S. Also do this every time you make changes to your clips or every minute or so as a matter of habit. A computer crash or power failure could wipe out all the changes you've made.
type in a name and click OK. Now this saves the clip and the arrangement of other clips as a Magix video. Your original video in AVI or MPG format is undisturbed. What the MVD file does is link to your original file ie the file you captured. After saving , you can exit the program. Reload Your Project When you want to return to it, go to File and choose Load movie. and browse for the file you have created, in this instance myfirstproject. When I click on it, my project is opened together with my edit decisions. You have now learnt how to create a project and you can now add more clips and save under the same project name. Every time you add a clip to the story board panel, press CTRL S to save your work in case your system crashes and you lose the arrangement of the clips on the workspace. Make a Backup It would be advisable to make a back up of the project file just in case you lose your original project fiule; Go to File and choose save as give it a name like myfirstprojectbk At the end of the day when you're done working on your project, you can create a backup file. If possible, save this backup file in a separate directory, better still in a different disk drive. Next: Cutting Your Clips
