Magix Video Editing Course Using Scene Recognition to Cut Clips
I have three clips on the workspace in the storyboard mode. The first clip as you can see from the time-code below it is about 1 minute and 54 seconds long. There must be quite a bit of scenes there and I would like to see those scenes to help me decide which scenes I would like to retain and which I would want to discard. Step 1 Press the FX button on the clip.
click on scene recognition or press Shift Z. This is the first part of the scene recognition dialog box.
Scene Detection Options If I want to detect scenes for the whole of the clip, then I leave the detection starts at start marker position unticked. If I want to detect from a certain point, then I place the red start marker at that point and click the detection starts at start marker position and click on Start. For now I'll choose the detection for the whole clip. You can set your sensitivity level - highest is at 1.0 (it detects more scenes) and lowest is at 8.0. When you click the start button, scenes are marked out.
We have five scenes recognised from the clip and their respective positions in the form of time-codes. Cutting Options We now have the option of what to do with the scenes. We move to the second part of the dialog box.
Here you can choose the options on how you want to cut the scenes. You can select the scene you want to cut by ticking the cut at selected scene markers Or you could want to save the scenes as takes. They would then be placed in the takes folder above the workspace from where you could drag the scenes on to the workspace.
In our case, we would want to place the clips on to the workspace. So we shall tick Cut at all scene markers and this is what you'll get in the workspace.
Notice that one clip has been cut into a series of clips. You can now choose whether to delete or further cut any of the clips manually using the T key. In this instance I will delete the first clip because it's nothing but a blank screen. Reminder The scene recognition does not make cuts on every scene even if the sensitivity level is set at the highest position. In some instances you would have to cut a recognised scene manually. What the scene recognition feature does is split a clip at the major cutting points. It's an automatic cutting process which merely simplifies the cutting task. You take it from that point on.
