Magix Video Editing Course

Removing Audio Track from a Clip

Captured video comes with the audio and video tracks blended. Sometimes, you may not need the audio track because of  background noise and so on.

You may want to replace the audio track with narration or music.

Magix Edit Pro allows you to do it quite simply. We start with three clips on the workspace.

In the story board mode you'll not be able to see their audio tracks. So, you'll have to switch to the timeline mode. Click on timeline.

Now you see the audio track on panel 2. When you click on the first clip you'll notice that the video and the audio tracks are joined together. You could see this through the tiny orange boxes around the video and audio clips.

For this clip we want to retain the video but not the audio

To do this we go to the tools bar and choose ungroup from Edit Menu or execute (CTRL M) after clicking on the clip we want to work on.

or use the shortcut

Now you'll notice that you can  click on the audio track separately. It's no longer embedded with the video track.

Having clicked on the audio track, you can then press the Delete key The audio track on the first clip is gone. When you click on the second clip you'll notice that the video and the audio clips are embedded.

To remove the audio clip you can repeat the same process by ungrouping the tracks and clicking on the audio track and deleting it

Next: Another way you can remove audio from your clip without deleting it
