Magix Video Editing Course Muting Audio in a Video Clip
If you're undecided whether to remove a video soundtrack or not, then you can mute it for the time being. By default every track on the timeline is in the solo mode. So, you'll have to click on the Mute option to exclude the an audio or video track. Muting will not play the sound when you're previewing your track on the timeline. Also when you mute it, the audio will be excluded when you output your final movie.
If you need to retain a certain portion of the soundtrack, you can cut (use the T key) that portion and drag it to the track below as shown in the screenshot above. The original soundtrack will remain muted but the. Before you cut, you must ungroup the audio and video. Otherwise, the video and audio tracks will be dragged down together. Additionally, you can save the cut portion of the soundtrack as a file, so that you could call it from a directory and insert it at any point during the editing process.
