Cutting Clips

Using The T Key

Magix Movie Edit Pro makes cutting clips simple by using a one-key method.

Bring the Marker to the position to want to make the cut and press the T key.

The clip is cut at the point. You can then click on the portion you don't want and press the delete key to remove it.

Again you don't have to worry about deleting the original clip. The original clip remains unaffected.

I have three clips arranged here on the editing workspace in the storyboard mode.

The first clip is from the beginning of the capture process. There's a blank screen with a little bit of gibberish.

I want to remove that black part  so what I do is I move the red marker to the point where I want the clip to start.

By using the arrow key or spacebar I have moved the marker to the position where the clip really begins and I can see the preview on the monitor window. When I find the point where I want the movie to start, I press the T key.

The clip is cut at the point. Now I don't want the clip with the blank screen. I click on it. The clip is highlighted. All I have to do is press the DELETE key and the clip is removed from the workspace.

In the storyboard mode, you don't see the cut key command unless you pull down the Edit menu there you'll see the T key as cut objects.

You can see more cutting options when you click on the scissors button above the clips

And you get a pull-down menu of cut options.

All you have to do is drag the marker to the point where you want to make the cut and press the necessary key.

If you accidentally cut and removed a scene, you can bring the clip back into the workspace by using the Undo option or press CTRl  Z.

or you can choose this shortcut

Remember press CTRL S as often as possible to save your editing decisions.

Sometimes you have a footage with many different scenes and you want to identify the cut points. Doing this manually, will take a bit of time.

You can save the precious time by resorting to the scene recognition mode.
