Capture and Record Your Screen Activity with Freez Screen Video Capture

Thinking of creating a training video or presentation? Give Freez Screen Capture a try.

Getting Started

Installing the program, you're met with a popup window which asks you to check on an updated version.

In most cases, you don't have to update because if you're downloading from the recommended site (aka publisher's site) you'll have the latest version.

Interface

Before getting started, it would be wise to set up your capture and recording options. Click on the options button.

If you want to record a fixed region, then you can record the Width and Height.

Otherwise, choose Normal region where by you select the recording area manually. This would give you the flexibility to mark out the area to be recorded.

You're now ready to set the Video options:

You have a choice of compressors.

After setting the video quality and fps you can then tweak the audio settings.

You can adjust the recording volume: You should concentrate on the microphone volume if you are doing narration for the screen capture.

Now you can tweak the audio format.

Once you're done, you're ready to record.

You can set the hotkey options or leave it at default.

Start Recording

uPress Record or the F7 hotkey to begin the recording. If you're on the right track, this cursor appears.

The recording has not started yet. The cursor means you're supposed to draw the recording area by holding the left moouse button. When you draw you'll get the luminous green border markers.

Only the screen activity within the green borders will be recorded.

Once you're done recording, press the F8 key.

You'll be presented with the save file dialog box. You can go ahead and save it and proceed to editing if necessary.

Conclusion
The screen recording is smooth and the save file processing to video file is speeding. The audio was also being recorded without any glitch. The audio quality is acceptable, but you would have to tweak it to get something satisfactory.

For a freeware, Freez Scren Video Capture does its job pretty well and its light grey interface does not distract us from the main screen activity.

This utility is worth giving a try.
