How to Download Your Favourite Youtube Videos

One thing you'll notice when you view a Youtube video is there isn't a button to download the video.

What if you like the video so much and want to share it with your friends? Just forward them the link where the video is stored?

What if your friend doesn't have a PC with an Internet connection but only a DVD player?

There's the Vdownloader to come to your rescue. It's a freeware utility designed to download a Youtube , Google Video and Dailymotion movies, among others.

Convert to AVI, MPG or PSP

The best part is the flash movie downloaded will be converted to AVI, MPG or PSP, according to your preference. This will be especially  useful for those who don't have the patience to watch streaming movies over the Net. From my experience the download time is faster than the time taken by the streaming movie to load and play

Let's take a look at  how this utility works.

After you've downloaded the program, choose Youtube under browse videos and press GO.

This will bring you to Youtube's main site.

Let's say you like this video called Film Dreamers. You click on the picture. It brings you to a new window.  Focus on the  the URL (website address) for the video clip.

I'll highlight this address ,copy and paste it on the

Vdownloader 's Video URL column

Then I'll go and set my preferences.. I go to options and click on preferences.

I can choose my output options and click OK.

The moment I click on the Download button, I'll be asked where I would want to save my destination file.

I choose a folder and click Save.

Downloading starts.

Once the download is complete. I can bring the file to a video converter or video editor and output it to DVD or VCD.

Try it out and let me know how vdownloader works.

Update
(7.4.2007)

Lately  I couldn't play downloaded Youtube videos although they're s in the MPEG format. At first I thought that vdownloader had a bug or something.

Then I discovered the problem: I have been running vdownloader as a shortcut from the desktop.  The moment I started running the exe file  from its directory I could play the downloaded videos . So, avoid running vdownloader as a shortcut from your desktop. Go to the directory and run the application from there.
