Divx Subtitle Displayer does the job for you

-
Go to the Subtitle Menu
-
Choose Load Subtitle

Divx Displayer loads most subtitle formats including
.sub, .ssa, .srt formats
Once you have loaded the subtitles, you can start playing the movie.
Tips

You can even change the font of the movie through the Subtitle Menu.
Go to Set Subtitle Font

In this instance I would like to set the font to Asimov. Below is what I get

If you get a movie file split into parts with one subtitle file, then you can use the Continued Play File mode. While keeping the subtitle file, just load the next part of the movie.
